Playland officially opens for the season at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 11, with a parade featuring a marching band, local officials, staff, and Coaster the Dragon, the amusement park’s official mascot.

Opening Day will feature a special $20 admission price, which will allow patrons unlimited rides. There will also be discounted prices on Sunday for Mother’s Day.

This year, the annual concert series will include nearly a dozen new local musical acts, as well as a public art display. The park will also offer “Westchester Town Days,” during the weeks, which will allow residents from certain municipalities to get into Playland for discounted prices.

During “Town Days,” residents with proof of ID will receive coupons for free mini golf, specials on ride admission, reduced prices on food and discounted parking for a future visit.

“Friday Fireworks” will continue at the park throughout the summer, with a special event planned for the July 4 weekend. There’s a new laser show that patrons can view twice a day, as well as the traditional Playland rides, entertainment and concerts.

Playland will be open on weekends during May, with the regular schedule beginning on June 21. The park will be closed on non-holiday Mondays.

“Our favorite dragon is off to round up his friends for opening day at Playland! If you happen to spot Coaster making his way around Westchester, make sure to snap a photo and use the hashtag #HeyCoaster," Westchester County Government posted on Facebook. “Playland Park opens Saturday, May 11. We hope to see you there! 🎡”

There will also be a discounted ticket deal to Playland Park, courtesy of Metro-North, as they prepare for the summer season.

“I’m delighted that Metro-North will continue offering this getaway deal to Rye Playland to our customers,” Catherine Rinaldi, Metro-North Railroad President stated. “Metro-North is so much more than a commuter railroad; it provides direct, safe and economical travel to some of the best tourist attractions, scenic venues and cultural destinations in our region.”

Season passes for Westchester residents can be had for $80 each. A regular visit will cost $25 for a day pass. Parking will cost $10 on weekends or weekdays, or $15 on holidays, special events and concert days.

“Playland is a classic summer destination – in fact, it isn’t really summer until you have visited Playland,” Westchester County Executive George Latimer said. “Come for the rides, cotton candy, beach, mini golf, laser show, musically acts – and so much more. I’ll meet you at the Dragon Coaster!”
